SOVAGSVATN LAKE, FAROE ISLANDS


Sørvágsvatn (Leitisvatn) is a large lake in the Faroe Islands. This is the biggest lake of the islands. It is situated on the island of Vágar between the municipalities of Sørvágs Kommuna and Vága kommuna.

 Meaning of the name Sørvágsvatn is "The lake of Sørvágur".

In size it is 3.4 square kilometre, more than three times the size of the second biggest lake Fjallavatn. Fjallavatn also lies on the island of Vágar.
